The Universitätszentrum Althanstraße (UZA) [University Center Althanstrasse] houses institutes, departments and subunits of the Faculties for Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, as well as for Geosciences, Geography and Astronomy, with their seminar rooms and lecture auditoria, specialized libraries and numerous service and support facilities for students.
The building complex is adjacent to the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien [Vienna School of Economics]. It was built above the railyard of the Franz-Joseph Railroad Terminal and inaugurated in 1982.
